1. How are your Solidgrain Table Tops sustainable?
All the timber for our Solidgrain Table Tops comes from sustainably managed forests. This means that methods like selective logging rather than widespread clear-cutting are used, ensuring the rate of harvest does not exceed the forest's natural regeneration rate. Trees are also replanted after harvesting to maintain forest cover.
2. What types of wood are best suited for commercial environments?
Hardwoods such as Oak and Ash are a great choice for contract table tops as they are strong and durable. Although Pine is technically a softwood, it’s also a quality, affordable option that can offer a more rustic look. All Solidgrain Table Tops are treated with commercial-grade lacquer that protects the wood from heavy use.
3. How can I care for my solid wood table top?
Always use coasters and placemats to protect the surface from heat and moisture. Act on spills immediately with a soft cloth. To clean, wipe using a damp cloth with a solution of warm water and mild dish soap, and immediately dry with a soft cloth, wiping with the grain of the wood. Never use abrasive cleaning tools such as scouring pads or wire wool and avoid any heavy-duty cleaners or bleach as these can degrade the layer of protective lacquer.
