The Company
Monkton Elm is an award-winning garden and pet centre in Taunton, Somerset. Recognised as one of the UK’s top 25 garden centres by the Daily Mail (2024), they’re the ultimate destination for all things garden related.
But Monkton Elm offers more than just plants, pots and pet supplies, in 2021 they opened a farm shop, providing premium, fresh, and where possible local produce, as well as high quality frozen ready meals. And there’s the recently refurbished Elm Tree Restaurant – the jewel in the crown that attracts guests from all over the South West of England.
The Project
Monkton Elm chose Eclipse to supply the furniture when revamping their spacious Elm Tree restaurant. Nathan Mepham, National Sales Manager at Eclipse Furniture, headed up the project for the 400-cover restaurant. It’s a big space with several distinct zones that required a large number of tables and chairs, including stock commercial furniture and a variety of bespoke items that were designed by our talented Innovation Team. Fixed seating was also needed, upholstered in contemporary fabrics to match the seat pads of the chairs. For the conservatory area, the team at Monkton Elm wanted comfy sofas and elegant bistro furniture befitting of the environment.
The Result
The new Elm Tree Restaurant is now a beautifully designed space that’s full of colour and texture but is light and airy. Nods to nature can be seen in the warm wood of the chairs and table tops, the leafy accent fabric, and the stunning floral mural stretching across one wall. The restaurant now provides a choice of seating with style and comfort in perfect balance. The conservatory area with the striking orange sofas offers a more relaxed area to enjoy a coffee and slice of cake.
